ROY JAMES BROWN

Chicago, IL

Roy James Brown is a Chicago-based AEA Actor/Musician, specializing in Rockabilly Upright Bass (slap and tricks). He has slapped his way through four productions of Buddy now as Joe B. Mauldin, which include Metropolis PAC in Arlington Heights, IL, Timber Lake Playhouse in Mt. Carroll, IL, San Antonio Broadway Theatre in San Antonio, TX, and Tuachan Center for the Arts in Ivins, UT.
In addition to Upright Bass, Roy also plays a replica of a 1954 Precision Bass, and has used it in productions of Buddy during Clear Lake (getting as close to Waylon Jennings being a character in the show as possible). Roy's other instrumental abilities include some acoustic guitar, as well as auxiliary percussion.

In addition to Buddy, Roy has spent time in the '50s theatrewise playing Brother Jay in Million Dollar Quartet, as well as Bill Black in Elvis: the Musical. Roy is also a sub for Lance Lipinsky & the Lovers in Shake Baby Shake.
